Climate & Ocean Biogeochemical Dynamics
Welcome! My name is Yassir Eddebbar and I am an Assistant Research Scientist in the Climate, Atmospheric Science and Physical Oceanography (CASPO) division at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego. My research combines longterm observations and numerical models to advance our fundamental process understanding of climate and ocean biogeochemical dynamics. My work is currently focused on exploring how climate variability and ocean circulation control the cycling of oxygen, carbon, and primary productivity from the (sub)mesoscale to global scales. Understanding these interactions is critical to improving model projections and attribution of climate change impacts on marine ecosystems and the global carbon cycle. I also enjoy teaching and engaging with policymakers, teachers, and the media to raise awareness on climate change and the role of the ocean in the climate system. Read more…
